L. David Marquet is a retired US Navy Captain and bestselling author. 1999 Maquet was selected to captain USS Olympia, but was unexpectedly diverted to command USS Santa Fe, when its captain quit. Santa Fe was ranked last in retention & operational standing. David turned his ship around by treating the crew as leaders not followers. This took the sub from worst to first, achieving the highest retention & operational performance in history. He then became commander of Submarine Squadron 3.
Chuck Dunphy and Andy Worshek served aboard Santa Fe with David. Chuck was Supply Officer. He planned and maintained an annual budget of $2M+ and an onboard repair part inventory of 18,000+ items. Andy was Combat Systems Department Chief. Both acted as invaluable advisors to making the VRDive real and authentic. Chuck even features prominently in the game #EasterEgg
Management Guru Stephen Covey called David's crew "the most empowered team he'd ever witnessed." Covey was an American educator, author, businessman, and speaker. His most popular book is "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". In 1996, Time magazine named him one of the 25 most influential people.
Simon Sinek is an American author and inspirational speaker on leadership. Simon called David "the kind of leader who comes around only once in a generation. His ideas and lessons are invaluable."
Angela Maus, CEO of Resourceful Humans and Jürgen Pinkl, Senior Manager at Accenture Technologies were invaluable in piloting, iterating and bullet-proofing the VRDive's design during its trial phase at Accenture.
